TV and the Internet TV

The broadcast TV is now enhanced with the help of video recorders, satellite and also cable which gives way to enjoying further recreation after a daily grind at the office. From a movie show to music and from cookery to sports there is every other program shown on TV that gives us the added energy we need to pick up in our lives by watching them and feeling good. The channels move on with the help of a remote control and people can now go over to places on the television itself by just the click of a button. Yet the live TV is challenged by the advent of the Internet TV.

The internet is a vast media and there the options of viewing are more than that of the TV. Although with the different models of the computers the video may vary in quality, yet there is good sound quality available and now the online TV concept is coming up fast. There is the facility of watching an internet TV everywhere and so the requirement of the actual live TV is going down everyday.

Everything on the TV is also there on the internet. You can not only watch live TV but you can also watch videos and recordings of your popular TV shows along with movies, the sports and also the fashion shows and the Oscars and the Grammys. But the question arises, everything on internet is not on TV, is it? For online news you can now view the news feeds from everywhere in the world and you get updates on sports sessions too. For a live TV the cost would be around $60 a month where as on the internet TV you have to pay for the speed of 3 MBps. On the cable TV you have lesser amount of choices as the number of packages is usually in the form of a bundle offer. In case of the internet TV it is in the form of a la carte and you can choose the programs you want to view and then make the payments accordingly.

TVs are mainly driven by hardwares so that when HD TV is added you need to buy a DVD player and also a new TV whereas for a PC, it would generally be driven by softwares and this have to e handled only through the download of a software. In both cases, the TV and the internet TV can be regulated through remote control system and is couch-friendly.

With the online TV, the episodes would come on air a day later and there are many downsides to an online TV. The online TV supplies us with extensive content, a lot of savings and also the choice to watch whatever we want. Therefore in course of time, the online TV is sure to win over the live TV in all respects.

Your Teenager and the Internet – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

The internet has opened up a whole new world of opportunity for teens today. There are many positive aspects to these new opportunities, including the ability to access information quickly. As parents, it is important to be educated about the way teens can use-and abuse-the internet and all it has to offer. Once armed with this information, you should make the decision to be involved enough in your teen’s internet activity to monitor the ways in which your teen is using the internet.

Safety

Safety has to be the top priority with teens and the internet. There are so many positive uses for the Internet. It has accelerated learning capabilities and made it possible for students to do independent learning projects and research that they would not have been able to do before. There are now dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias at teens’ fingertips. Homework accuracy can be vastly improved. Facts, history and a wealth of information have been made available at our fingertips. The internet has also made it much easier to keep in touch with family, friends, and loved ones. But when it comes to teens and the Internet, controlling who they talk to and what kind of information they share is critical.

Social Networking

There are many social networking sites available to everyone on the internet. They have proven to be a great way to keep in touch with friends and family as well as find people with whom we’ve lost touch. What is important for parents to remember is that anyone can approach your teens on the Internet. In order to keep your teens safe, arm them with information. Tell them about the different approaches predators will take to gain access to a teen’s trust and location.

Make your teen aware of behaviors and red flags in order to identify potential threats, like contact from someone they don’t know, requests to meet, or encouragement to keep the contact a secret. Teens need guidance and supervision to ensure that they are not posting inappropriate pictures or chatting with someone they don’t know. You can’t just tell your teen not to use social networking sites; you need to teach them to use the sites responsibly. Keep the computer in a public place like the living room to prevent your teen from taking unnecessary risk.

Risk

While there are so many positive aspects for teens and the Internet, there is as much potential for it to pose a threat if misused. There are predators that seek out the naïve trust that can be too easily gained from an unsuspecting teen. The Internet can also become a problem with teens and time management. It is so easy for time to slip away, letting other priorities take a back seat to the variety of activities the Internet has to offer. There is everything from shopping online to Internet games and music. If use of the Internet is allowed to be abused it can affect school performance as well as the ability to fulfill obligations and responsibilities at home. Set clear limits for your teen about how much time they are allowed to spend online.

Safeguards

There are several software programs available that can help control where a teen can explore on the internet, but the biggest safeguard is a parent’s knowledge and guidance. When it comes to teens and the Internet, close monitoring and open communication is key. Parents must know and understand the potential dangers and then make the conscious decision to be involved enough to know how to handle teens and the Internet.

The Artist and the Internet Marketer

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, the saying goes. My wife runs an art shop and has just spent seven days working meticulously on a painting. As she puts the final touches to it, it makes me realize the contrast between products that some people make and what Internet marketers often sell.

Beauty is in my wife’s painting but also in the system that Internet marketers use to sell digital products and services. My wife’s one painting might sell for $1,000 but it is a one-off sale and then it is back to the drawing board – or canvas – to create another one.

Not so the digital product or service. Suppose you spend a week writing an e-book. It’ s a hard slog but you know that the product can be sold again and again because it is digital. Same with a lot of the training that is sold on the Internet. Maybe it is in PDF files or videos, maybe a training talk that was given to a paying audience, yet recorded for posterity. The training course can be sold again and again. Not my wife’s painting, though.

Yes, there are some limited edition art pictures, where copies are made and you get the privilege of buying one of only say 100 printed. But by and large, these are one-off creations, created with love, maybe, but limited – unless you are say Picasso – when it comes to bringing in substantial income.

My wife’s painting costs $1,000. But then there are products that I sell online as an affiliate that bring me in this amount in commission – again and again and again. Some of the products I sell go for $10,000 with me pocketing 50% in commission. But I don’t have to spend days crafting the product to then have to get on to crafting the next one. The products are in effect limitless. They can bringing me in commissions again and again. That’s the beauty of this form of online marketing.

Whether you are selling a ClickBank e-book for a $10 commission or a digital product that sells for $1,000 or more, it is hard to beat the online digital product system.

I am lucky in that all I need is a computer and an Internet connection and I am in business. All my marketing is done in cyberspace. My wife, however, works at home on her painting but has to rent a shop to display her work and the work of others. Getting an audience for her work is not easy. If people pass by her shop, fine. Many, though, don’t know it exists. She has to get the word out and that is not easy, though she does have a website to help publicize the shop.

As Internet marketers, we may struggle at times to get sales. Yet, please keep the thought of my wife wielding her paintbrush in mind when you grumble. If you get the art of marketing right, you get tons of profit. Once my wife has sold her painting, it’s on to the next one. No comparison.
